Sheridan College Baking Club
While it does require a fair amount of work to run our club on such a large campus, to be honest, we think it’s one of the best ways for us to feel connected to the school. Our executive team is not just comprised of people who enjoy bossing others around, we're comprised of friends who actually love the community we're fostering. We strive to be pretty relaxed within our team culture. We get together once a week to discuss upcoming workshops and just talk about what’s working well and what isn’t. We're students too, so we totally get that sometimes you need to take a week off to get a big project or an important exam out of the way. We work together to compensate for each other so our club is an enjoyable, stress-free haven for members as well as for ourselves.

Each of these roles serves a particular purpose within the club, but we don't really try to stick to our particular roles too hard. If the Marketing Coordinator is having trouble taking pictures at a club event, the Director of Finance is always practically setting up the lighting for the Marketing Coordinator. If the Director of Culinary Creations is overwhelmed with testing all the dishes for a cook-off event, the Co-Presidents will be the first to volunteer to help with the dishes.
We’re always looking for new angles, so we encourage you to talk to us if you’ve ever thought about leadership! We usually have elections or “shadowing” opportunities at the end of the year for our newer members to learn what it’s like to run the show. But most importantly, we want to ensure our Baking Club is a welcoming, well-informed group for all members. It really is a group effort, and we’re always looking for like-minded members who love cookies and community as much as we do.
