Sheridan College Baking Club
The Baking Club was born from the very idea and notion that through food, magic is created between humans. On a busy college campus, when deadline after deadline approaches for exams and projects, it's easy for students to get lost in the midst of the chaotic world. That is why we consider The Baking Club such an important institution, tailored and designed for students looking to pause and gaze out at the world around them, surrounded by the warm smell of kneading dough or the sweet aroma of fresh-baked cookies ready for consumption.
Baking, to us, is a holistic activity. It is not simply a matter of food preparation, it is art, a therapy, and a language of kindness. Therefore, our club emphasizes the process more than the product. We glorify failures as much as we glorify successes, as failures are where the true learning is. We focus on collaboration instead of competition, providing support to each other.
The Baking Club runs its events continuously throughout the academic calendar while keeping a pretty lenient schedule to account for the students' busy lives. The hybrid approach in our programming includes taking over kitchens for hands-on learning and virtual sessions for the comfort of your own kitchen.
This student organization is spearheaded by a dedicated executive team striving toward principles of transparency, inclusivity, and perpetual improvement. We are always looking for new ways to engage our members through local tours of bakeries, guest speaker sessions with professional chefs, or community-wide charity events.
